Atlyss features a chat system similar to many MMOs. It is divided into 4 different channels: Global chat, Zone chat, Channel #1, and Channel #2. While in general these channels work regardless of your relative position to others, the Zone chat is limited to, as its name implies, the zone you are currently in and won't let you see messages of people communicating in the Zone chat in different locations.

Chat Commands

For multiplayer commands using the Host Console, see Lobby Hosting.

By typing "/" before your message, it is possible to use some chat commands, mostly relating to having your character do an emote. Currently there are:

Command Effect Chat message
/emotes Displays a list of all possible emote commands See "Effect".
/sit Has your character enter a sitting pose unique to their race None.
/sit2 (Exclusive to Changs, Imps, and Byrdles*) Has your character enter a different sitting pose None.
/taunt Has your character turn around and slap their ass continuously "[name] taunts."
/shrug Has your character do a short shoulder shrug "[name] shrugs."
/clap Has your character a short clapping animation "[name] claps."
/think Creates a thinking bubble above your character's head and has them think for a moment "[name] thinks for a moment."
/ponder Same effect as /think, but with a different global chat message "[name] ponders."
/dance Has your character enter a race specific dance animation "[name] dances."
/point Has your character point in the direction they are currently facing "[name] points in a direction."
/nod Has your character do two quick nods "[name] nods."

*When Byrdles use /sit2, it is the same animation as /sit - this animation is unique to Byrdles.
