Compact, yet sturdy. Always eager for adventure beyond their scope. Changs come from a mysterious advanced civilization, but were often outcasts and seen as troublemakers.

Changs are a race of rodents. Their character customization options allow for the creation of several rodent species, including mice, hedgehogs, and opossums. They are the only race to run on all fours, and have a unique emote command, performed by typing "/sit2" in chat.

Previous Iterations

The Changs as a concept originally appeared in CHANGkaBANG!, a previous KisSoft, title. Players could choose to play as one of several members of the Chang Gang, a group ostracized from polite society. Pip Chang, the only rodent in the group, is the first example of a Chang as we know them. Generic civilian Changs (represented as 2D sprites) can be attacked during gameplay.

Changs would be absent from the first two iterations of ATLYSS, but were planned to be playable in iteration 3; however, this never came to pass. The basic Chang presets were mostly modeled, with the exception of the arms and body. Additionally, there was only one option for tails, hair, eyes, etc. Notably, Changs in this iteration had fluff balls dangling from antennae on their foreheads.

Changs were implemented in alpha 0.1.9a of iteration 4. The race description for Changs changed a few times throughout development.[1] There were no "default" presets for any race in early alpha builds: traits were randomized upon opening character creation. However, the character creator defaulted to specific colors when one selected a race. All races had different default colors: for Changs, the fur defaulted to a modest peach tone.
