Assessing the Playtest

Backing up Player Data

Before you access the beta, it is heavily recommended to backup your character and storage data. This is because the Playtest is unstable and can cause corruptions to player data files. The beta also makes massive changes to how the Player and Items work, which can cause issues when returning to the stable branch.

To backup your data, right click ATLYSS on steam and browse to Manage>Browse Local Files. From there go to ATLYSS_DATA\profileCollections and copy every atl_characterProfile_X and atl_itemBank_X to a safe location (X is the slot the character or storage occupies). To restore your player data to the stable branch, replace the Player Data in ATLYSS_DATA\profileCollections with your backup and change the beta to None.

Issues with Steam Cloud Sync

Steam Cloud Sync can cause issues with restoring your stable branch backup. If prompted with a Steam Cloud conflict on the local and cloud save, always choose the local save as the cloud save will most likely have the Public Playtest character data. If for whatever reason Steam does not prompt you to choose between the cloud and local saves, it most likely means that steam is automatically restoring the Public Playtest Character Data. To fix this, disable Steam Cloud by right clicking ATLYSS in steam and navigate to Properties>General>Steam Cloud. From here Steam Cloud can temporarily be turned off to restore your Stable Branch Character Data. Before turning Steam Cloud Sync back on, boot the game up to make sure the backup data works. From here Steam should either prompt the user on which save data to use, or use the local save data to update the cloud.

Enabling the Playtest

To access the beta test right click on ATLYSS in Steam and click Properties>Betas>Beta Participation and select the public beta test.
